Financial Aid & Payment Options

We want every family who values Christian education to be able to afford it. Salem offers needs-based financial aid through FACTS to help bridge the gap.

Needs-Based Financial Aid

Apply through the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. FACTS reviews your family’s financial situation and determines aid eligibility. If you feel the approved amount is not enough, we encourage you to speak with our Principal or Education Committee. We work with families—not against them.

Flexible Payment Plans

Tuition payments are managed through FACTS with options that fit your budget: annual payment, semi-annual payments, or monthly installments spread across the school year.

Minnesota Tax Benefits

Minnesota offers a tax credit for private school tuition and fees. This can reduce your overall cost even further. Consult your tax advisor for details on education credits and deductions available to your family.

We believe cost should not be a barrier to Christian education. If Salem is the right fit for your family, we want to help make it work.

Admissions & Tuition — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask most about enrolling in a private school.

When can I apply?

Applications for new students open February 1st for enrollment the following school year. We encourage families to tour the campus first, then apply through FACTS when you are ready.

What is the admission process?

The process is simple and personal. First, tour our campus. Then submit the online application through FACTS. Next, meet with our administration as a family. If applicable, your child will complete a brief student assessment. Finally, complete registration and you are all set.

We want the process to feel welcoming—not stressful. This is a conversation about your child, not an exam.

What are the age requirements?

For preschool, students must be 33 months old by their enrollment month and toilet trained. For kindergarten, children must be 5 years old by September 1. For first grade, children must be 6 years old by September 1.

How much does tuition cost at Salem?

For 2026–2027, K–8 tuition starts at $5,400 per year for Anchored in Christ member families.  Preschool tuition ranges from $3,150 to $6,750 depending on the program you choose.

Is financial aid available?

If the approved amount is not enough, you are encouraged to speak directly with our Principal or Education Committee.

Are there discounts for multiple children?

Yes. Tuition is reduced for your second child and reduced again for a third child or more. The more children you enroll at Salem, the more your family saves. Contact us for exact rates based on your membership tier.

What payment options are available?

Tuition is managed through FACTS, which offers flexible options: pay annually, semi-annually, or in monthly installments spread across the school year. You choose the schedule that fits your family's budget best.

Are there tax benefits for private school tuition in Minnesota?

Yes. Minnesota offers a tax credit for private school tuition and registration fees. This can meaningfully reduce your out-of-pocket cost each year. We recommend consulting your tax advisor for details specific to your family's situation.

Is private school worth the cost compared to public school?

Families choose private school for what public school cannot offer: small class sizes, personalized instruction, faith-based values, and a culture where every child is known. At Salem, your tuition goes directly toward your child's academic foundation, character development, and spiritual growth.

Many families tell us the confidence, readiness, and values their children gain at Salem show up for years—through high school, college, and beyond. It is an investment in who your child becomes, not just what they learn.

What does tuition not cover?

Tuition does not include school supplies, athletic fees, field trip costs, or before/after school care (SailorCare). These are standard expenses similar to what you would find at any school. There are no hidden fees or surprise charges at Salem.

Do I need to be a church member to enroll?

No. Salem welcomes all families who want a Christ-centered private school education for their children. Church membership is not required for admission. However, members of Anchored in Christ, WELS, or ELS congregations qualify for reduced tuition rates.

Is there an enrollment fee?

Yes. A $300 per-student enrollment fee is due at the time of enrollment or re-enrollment. This fee is nonrefundable after June 1. For re-enrollments completed after March 31, the fee increases to $350. This fee secures your child's spot for the upcoming year.

How does Salem's tuition compare to other private schools?

Salem's tuition is well below the national average for private schools. With K–8 rates starting at $5,400 per year and financial aid available, a Salem education is one of the most accessible private school options in the Greenfield area. You get small class sizes, experienced teachers, and a faith-centered community at a fraction of what many private schools charge.

Can I tour Salem before applying?
